Aggers, as a long-time West Midlands resident, you'll remember the Metrobuses which were the mainstay of the fleet back in the 1980 and 90's (?) and were built at Washwood Heath.
There was a small batch which were fitted to coach specification as "luxury" express buses and used on the Walsall > Birmingham service. These had mock leather seats, did have "lap" seat belts fitted, certainly in the lower saloon. I can recall travelling on one long after they had been declassified back to "ordinary" services, and the seat belts were certainly still fitted - not that I or anyone else used them.

True, but it's to ensure you can stop if they start to change. Do they not have traffic light cameras up your way?

I did it all the time at the traffic-light controlled cross-roads just north of Erdington High Street which had d@mn Gatsos in both directions - probably long after they'd been decommissioned anyway ....

Approach to the lights was traditionally accompanied by the chanted mantra "Don't change, don't change, don't change, don't chan ..... ba%$£&^ds!"
