Hello all. Thank you so much for all the wishes
Yes, definitely not quite the way I was expecting to end the week. I started feeling a bit not quite right on Wednesday, and then Thursday evening we had a big department after work function that I went to, stayed for 1/2 hour and then just needed to go home and feeling all hot and bothered. Got home and at that point I was suspecting appendicitis. I went to bed to try get some sleep but couldn't get comfy at all so come just before midnight I took myself down to A&E. Took a good while to get sorted, but at 6am they finally did a CT scan that confirmed my suspicions, I was admitted by 7.30 and down in theatre by 11am. I got home yesterday afternoon and have been spending most of the time since just sleeping / dozing either on the sofa or in my bed.
Medical technology really has come on in leaps and bounds and it was fascinating to see everything in action at the hospital. Keyhole surgery is a game changer and makes for a much quicker recovery. I'm booked off work for 2 weeks, but will be working from home - it's no hardship sitting with a laptop on my lap. The 10 days of no driving is going to be the bigger issue, but I'll get around that somehow.
But at least I'm back home, minus appendix and incredibly grateful to all the staff at the Royal Surrey - they were brilliant!
