Good Morning Friday

Postby JanB » 13 Jun 2025, 08:31

Morning everyone

Cloudy and cool this morning, but warming up to 30C later.

I've spent the last couple of hours weeding on the bank. That's what I call proper weeding, as I haven't touched it for three years and the weeds are almost as tall as me  Great fun though, as I almost fell over, pulling some of the stronger ones up  Four barrow loads done, so I'l pleased :D

Lovely long chat with my daughter, who is 48 today  No idea how that happened, she's still a youngster in my head

Nelson will be up later with a new gauge and other bits and bobs, just need the patient to shift his posterior out of bed

Have a good day everyone, whatever you're doing xx

Morning all :D

Sunny 8-)

We'll be off out later this morning, planning to have lunch at San Clu, haven't been there since before we went away. Thought it would be nice for Ed to have a pre Father's Day treat. I'll spread the usual Friday wash over today and tomorrow.

Hope you all have a good day xx

Morning all, sun and rain here, sometimes at the same time  Mobility class this morning, then I need to post off birthday presents and buy more birthday cards - June is a birthday-heavy month! Edward has a heavy cold with a sore throat so is feeling a bit sorry for himself. He cancelled his golf, and says he won’t go dancing tonight - I might go on my own, I’ll see how I feel.

Jen, Colm Wilkinson turned 81 the other day and we’ve been listening to the original cast recording of Les Mis - it strikes me that the first time I saw it in London, your Zoe must have been playing Cosette. Colm singing Bring him Home can still bring tears to my eyes.

Hello you two and everyone else - happy Friday

Enjoy lunch out Jen - and makes sense going before Fathers day when everything will be busy.
Jan, that's a lot of weeding done so early in the morning - well done you! Hope you can have a more relaxed rest of day?
Osc, poor E - hope he feels better soon (for his sake and yours ;-) ) Enjoy dancing if you do go

Well WFH for me today - sitting with the back door open listening to birds chirping away, bliss! I was at the allotment earlier this morning for a quick water and the bees were buzzing madly around the poppies - just fascinating to watch them. It'll be it's usual busy work wise. And then quiet evening at home. Apparently we're due rain and thunderstorms at some point overnight. But a nice warm day today

Have a lovely day everyone xxx

Osc he's such a lovely man, I have a nice photo of him with Zoe in rehearsal at The Barbican. No one else comes near to his version of Bring Him Home. By the way it's Zoe on the original cast album.

Cleaning to be done Ria, so not really.

I filled one more barrow load, so should finish it off over the week-end.

Then I have to think of some plants to put in place of the weeds

Good afternoon.
Nice and warm here today.
We have been to do the big shop.
There is one clue left in the Telegraph crossword and I may go the atm later.
There was no cash in it yesterday, and a cash machine with no cash isn't much use.
Have a lovely day everyone.

Afternoon all, it’s a humid day.

Joe works from home on Fridays and decided to get up early today and walk with me and George. We had the whole common and woods to ourselves at 7am, so it seemed anyway as we didn’t see anyone else, and it was lovely to just walk and chat. I’ve missed that time with the football season being over, as we usually natter all the way to Manchester and back. Joe took him again on his lunch break which is a big help as we’re forecast rain later.
Jade’s over later, not sure if she’s staying tonight though as Joe’s off to Dublin tomorrow morning with his friend Zak. She’s more than welcome to stay as long as she wants but she’s quite a shy girl so I’m not sure she’d be comfortable without Joe here.

I spoke to Tom earlier and we’ve decided to have a Father’s Day barbecue on Sunday so I’ll go to Aldi tonight for food for that. Should really have had the conversation yesterday before placing the order for this morning’s Tesco delivery
At least with doing a barbecue we can eat whenever Joe gets back. Their flight leaves Dublin around 11 so he thinks he’ll be home early afternoon as long as they’re on time.

Osc, for both of your sakes I hope Edward is soon feeling much better x

Have a good day all :D

Evening all! Sadly I'm old enough to remember Dixon of Dock Green, and find that funny

Been out all day! SW meeting, then a cuppa with the girls, then up to Em's afterwards, where Mick and Dave joined us, sitting in their lovely garden. Sadly they've had to have their kitchen and conservatory floor taken up to deal with a hidden water leak and mould problem, so that was the topic of conversation! They've decided to get a new kitchen and then replace the floor - don't envy them the upheaval one bit! Round to D's after that.

We were going to Hereford tomorrow for lunch with friends, but he's been really poorly this week, so we've rescheduled.

Have a good evening everyone xxx
