VE parade

I've just seen some Ukrainian soldiers plus flag marching in the VE parade.
The commentator said it was because the Ukrainians fought against the nazis in WW2.
Millions did, in the Red Army.
On the other hand, some Ukrainians joined the SS!
This was a misstep, imo.

They don't expect people to remember or to check.

It fits the current narrative and that is all that counts.

I am ex-military (RAF) but it's not for me. I give such things a wide berth.

There are very few people left who can actually "remember" those times so, for me, it is time to let all this pomp and flag wearing and waving fizzle out.

Just mark the 8th of May as VE Day and move on.

My father remembers and he's still here. He remembers being brought back from the country and playing "dodge the V1" in London.

Tells a rather amusing story about how there were no AA guns in the local area until the council offices were nearly hit by one. All of a sudden AA guns appeared on local roofs....
