Supreme Court Ruling on biologic sex

There are only two biological sexes and this has been confirmed in law by the Supreme Court. If a space such as a changing room is for women only, then only a biological women can use that space. Transwomen are still perfectly free to live the lives they chose provided they don't encroach on spaces designated for biological women. If Keir Starmer is asked again 'can a women have a penis', he will now know the answer and there will be no need for him to stutter and try to evade the question.

I honestly don't know how a politician can stand there and come out with such blatant lunacy.

I think the Supreme Court's ruling is "common sense", but I also think those who say it will make life more difficult for trans people have to be listened to.
As I understand it, a man who has transgendered to a woman would now be barred from women's loos, because they are a women-only safe space. So where do they go?
Most loos these days have a disabled closet - perhaps these should be redesignated for disabled and trans folk.

To a certain extent, the trans-gender lobby has rather brought this on themselves, muddying the waters by endorsing "legal" trans certificates, and even self-identification, which to my mind is nothing more than a mickey take. But that doesn't mean they don't encounter problems which have to be resolved.

I do welcome the ruling with regard to womens' sports though. The inclusion of transed men has ruined numerous sports for female competitors.

I pretty much agree with you Ossie, especially where women's sports are concerned. I don't really have a problem with public loos, funnily enough there is a transgender person who uses the loos in our M&S, and they were just entering the ladies there in Monday as I was coming out. I don't see how that person could comfortably use.the men's.

Women's prisons are another issue, there have been cases of violent sex offenders declaring themselves as trans, putting the female inmates at risk. The new ruling will prevent this.

Perhaps there should be new transgender categories, although that would bring its own problems I expect.....

Everyone should have the right to be themselves, but trans rights should be equal, and not supersede those.of women, which were very hard fought!

I have a daughter and nieces, and they have friends. Do I want them sharing toilets and changing rooms with men who now claim to be transgender? NOT-A-CHANCE.

I now see that the media, especailly the BBC, are all in a tizz over this and are playing the "Trans" card for all it is worth.

One idea I am seeing being promoted is 'Trans' toilets and changing rooms along the lines of the 'disability' variants, but I wonder how they might work. Will there be male trans and female trans versions or just a unitrans version.

It's all a bit of a mess.
