Oh blimey Ossie, disaster indeed :o

We gave up with the cafetierre years ago, too many coffee grains getting in the mugs. We use a Melitta coffee machine similar to the one below, it's absolutely brilliant and keeps the coffee hot for absolutely ages without stewing it.

We couldn't wait for an Amazon delivery, even "next day", Jen

Emergency early evening dash to Waitrose down town for a £10.50 replacement. :D

Trouble is, the John Lewis range of homewares they sell are mainly, in our experience, cheap Chinese trash.
Still, needs must, as Mrs O without her regular morning fix is not something you want to be reckoning with .....

We’ve got a Nespresso machine, though since Tom left home I’m the only one who uses it.

I get 100 Starbucks Pike Place Roast pods from Amazon for around £30, and I have a gadget which empties the coffee out of them so that they can be recycled.

I gave up on cafetieres ages ago because I could never get them to pour properly... a lot of the coffee used to run down the ourside and onto the worktop rather than into the cup / mug.

I now get Lavazza Prontissimo from B&M. It is instant granules but each one surrounds a grain of ground coffee; best of both worlds and is absolutely delicious. At £3.45 for a 95g can it is not cheap, but a small teaspoon makes a super strong brew.

That’s a lot cheaper than a lot of coffees now. I always keep a tin of Azera in, if John’s making coffee he always uses instant, and it’s around £7 if not on offer but I’ll give the Lavazza a try next time I need some.

Jo, do you have an Aldi near you? They do their own brand of the Azera, and I'm sure it's the same stuff just different wording.

Yeah, we tried it once and didn’t like it.
