that us over here in Europe will be losing all English channels, fairly soon.

And do you know what?

Apart from footie, the grand prix and the odd  cookerying programme, we're not really worried.

We can watch footie and the gp on either Portuguese or Spanish television and we could, if they spoke slower  also watcht masterchefy typoe things.

But the Portuguese television is not very good. Loads of news programmes, loads of soaps (with dreadful acting) (I saw lots of them when in hospital, as the tv is put on as soon as they put the lights on at half 6  in the morning)

So I need books, more books

Why are you losing the channels?

Is that on normal tv or via a satellite.

Satellite Debih.

We can get the normal Portuguese and Spanish, as we have an aeriel, but the English stuff is on it's way out, apparently.

The local bods who prey on the "foreign" market have been saying that they can sort it out, but as the satellite only went up a couple of weeks ago, no-one is really sure yet.

I though Freesat was still available but would be losing some of the less popular channels such as Travel TV, QVC, that sort of thing.

We've already lost channel 5 WM, that went earlier in the year.

There's a lot of rubbish talked on expat forums, but we'll just have to wait and see.

You should be able to get lots of channels in English with a big dish though some on Astra 28 are in HD only now.

I wonder if it will affect Ally as well.

How will she cope without her weekly dose of James Martin????

And me

It's a new satellite Pederito, and having a larger dish won't make any difference, it's because we're too far away.

I would think Ally will be having the same problem.
